Syracuse 9 – Scranton/Wilkes Barre 5
Box Score

Trailing 5-1 heading in the bottom of the third, Syracuse had an impressive two out rally started by an Espinosa single. Syracuse would have six straight hits including doubles from Travis Taijeron and Thompson, the latter a two run double which put Syracuse up for good in the game. The last run game via a Tejada RBI single in the eighth. Since returning the Mets organization, Tejada is hitting .500 with two hit games in five of the seven games he has played.

The win snapped Syracuse’s six game losing streak, and it marked the first time they have beaten Scranton/Wilkes-Barre all season longSewald and Peterson had scoreless appearances after clearing through waivers. Caminero was ejected for the second straight game after throwing up-and-in to Mike Ford. In the previous game, Caminero plunked Breyvic Valera after Ford homered, and yesterday, Caminero hit Ford. Both beanings led to benches clearing. Caminero was the only pitcher ejected in both games.

Trenton 11 – Binghamton 2
Box Score

With the Rumble Ponies down 7-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Haggerty tried to jump start the offense with a leadoff triple. However, he would be the only run which scored as Will Toffey would later hit into a double play ending the inning. The only other run was scored off a Mazeika sacrifice fly. Mazeika has now gone consecutive games without a base hit for the first time in a month. Notably, he has not gone consecutive games without reaching base safely.

After pitching well with St. Lucie, Wilson struggled in his first start for Binghamton. The four earned he allowed matched a season worst, which happened to be in his first start for St. Lucie. Gilliam also surrendered a season (and career) high with four earned. The homer he surrendered was the first he’s allowed all season.

Charleston 9 – Columbia 7
Box Score

The Fireflies offense couldn’t quite keep up with Charleston’s or with their own poor defense. Moreno’s ninth inning two run homer pulled Columbia to withint two, but the team did nothing after that. For Moreno, it was his third homer in 12 games. The three homers are one off a career high, and he is hitting .289/.373/.511 since being sent back down to Columbia.

After walking six batters over a three game span earlier in the season, Woods Richardson has gotten back to throwing strikes. He has now not walked a batter in his last two starts an in five of his 11 starts this season. This start also marked the sixth time he had more strikeouts than innings pitched.

While Megill and Moreno struggled to hold the lead, they were done in by the poor Fireflies defense. A Mauricio throwing error in the seventh put Megill behind the eight ball. Of course, his walking two batters after that didn’t help matters. He’d be bailed out by Moreno, but the Fireflies defense wouldn’t return the favor as a Brian Sharp throwing error helped start that game winning rally. Of course, Moreno’s allowing two doubles wasn’t on the defense.
