Syracuse (53-52) 8, Toledo (46-59) 6   Box Score

Guillorme had a big game, extending his career-high with his fifth home run of the season. Tejada continued to rake, as he is batting .410 with a 1.051 OPS in the month of July. Alcantara drove in the Mets’ first run with a single in the second, and later tripled as he continued his good play since he was promoted to Syracuse on May 21.

Lockett struck out a season-high seven in a winning effort. Blackham has pitched three scoreless innings with four strikeouts since being promoted from Binghamton, where he posted a 2.72 ERA with 59 strikeouts in 39.2 innings. He has allowed a .152 average this year. Pounders, meanwhile, has struggled to an 11.25 ERA in eight games with the Mets, after posting a 2.31 ERA in 24 games for the Columbus Clippers.

Binghamton (55-48) 2, Bowie (56-48) 1   Box Score

Haggerty extended his hitting streak to seven games, a span in which he is 11-29. Zanon recorded two hits in his Double-A debut, while Gimenez went 0-3 but is still batting .288 with a .768 OPS in July after a rough June.

  • RHP Tommy Wilson (3-4, 4.86 ERA): 7.0 IP, 4 H, R, 0 BB, 9 K
  • RHP Joseph Shaw (W, 1-3, 2.19 ERA): 2.0 IP, H, 0 R, BB, 2 K

Wilson struggled early after being promoted to Binghamton, but over his last three starts he has allowed only one run in 20 innings. This one was arguably his best yet, going seven innings for the first time with Binghamton and second time overall this season.

Bradenton (57-47) 3, St. Lucie (57-48) 2   Box Score

The Mets got on the board in the third on a sac fly by Jeremy Vasquez. They tied the game in the sixth on Rizzie’s home run, but they went 0-5 with runners in scoring position as they fell short. Lagrange has been hot in his first eight games since being promoted to St. Lucie.

Szapucki’s return to action is going well, as his success in Columbia has carried over so far through five starts in St. Lucie. Between Columbia and St. Lucie this year (16 games, 13 starts), he has posted a 2.31 ERA with 51 strikeouts in 39 innings, and a .194 opponents batting average.

Hagerstown (46-59) 8, Columbia (39-63) 4   Box Score

Mauricio, who is 9-for-his-last-21, had the biggest hit for Columbia, driving in two with a double in the second to put the Fireflies up 4-0. Vientos continues to swing a good bat, as he has posted an .815 OPS in July. Despite Saturday’s 0-for, Newton has also been better in July with a .275 average and .756 OPS.

  • RHP Jaison Vilera (1-3, 9.00 ERA): 4.2 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 2 BB, 4 K
  • RHP Conner O’Neil (L, 1-1, 4.76 ERA): 1.1 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 3 ER, BB, 0 K
  • RHP Jose Moreno (2-4, 3.29 ERA): 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, K
  • RHP Allan Winans (0-2, 3.07 ERA): 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K

Vilera has struggled badly for Columbia this year, giving up 24 earned runs in 24 innings. O’Neil had his first bad outing since being demoted to Columbia, after three good ones.

Brooklyn (24-16) 5, Vermont (16-26) 1   Box Score

Duplantis had two hits including a much-needed extra base hit. He’s struggled to start his professional career, although he is batting .316 in his last ten games. Genord hit his sixth homer, as he is starting to heat up again after a lengthy dry spell.

  • RHP Michel Otanez (W, 1-0, 1.80 ERA): 5.0 IP, 5 H, R, BB, 5 K
  • RHP Jared Biddy (1-0, 0.00 ERA): 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K
  • RHP Brian Metoyer (2-2, 6.20 ERA): 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, 0 K

The hard-throwing Otanez made his debut for Brooklyn after posting a 3.31 ERA with 44 strikeouts in 32.2 innings for Kingsport. He gave up just a first-inning homer, striking out five and walking only one. Biddy has started his professional career with no runs allowed in 10.2 innings, with 12 strikeouts and only one walk.

Kingsport (17-20) 3, Pulaski (23-14) 2   Box Score

Baty is in a little 1-14 slump since a two-hit game on July 21. The Mets squeaked out a win with a run in the sixth, seventh, and eighth.

  • RHP Junior Santos (0-3, 4.15 ERA): 3.0 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 2 K
  • LHP Nixon Silva (0-2, 6.48 ERA): 2.0 IP, H, 0 R, 0 BB, K
  • LHP Jefferson Escorcha (W, 5-0, 1.52 ERA): 3.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R, ER, 0 BB, 3 K
  • RHP Josh Hejka (0-0, 0.00 ERA): 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K

The Mets are moving Santos along slowly, as he is still just 17 years old. He’s been pitching about three innings in each start, with this being his second scoreless appearance of the season. Escorcha has been a nice surprise, being transitioned slowly between levels but posting a sub-2 ERA at each level he’s been at. Hejka has started his professional career with 7.2 scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts and two walks.

GCL Mets (16-11) 3, GCL Marlins (17-11) 2   Box Score

Corona had the only hit for the Mets, as the team amazingly collected only one hit, but walked 13 times. They scored their three runs on two wild pitches and a sac fly, as they found a way to come out with the victory.

Torres made his third rehab appearance for the GCL Mets after he posted a 9.92 ERA in 16.1 innings for Binghamton. In his three rehab outings, he has pitched three scoreless innings with one hit, one walk, and four strikeouts.

DSL Twins (15-28) 8, DSL Mets1 (22-21) 5   Box Score

Perez collected three of the Mets’ seven hits, all seven of which were singles. They scored five of their runs on a rally in the sixth inning.

  • LHP Javier Atencio (L, 0-1, 5.83 ERA): 2.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 3 BB, 2 K
  • RHP Luis Silverio (1-0, 10.80 ERA): 0.1 IP, 2 H, 4 R, 4 BB, 0 K
  • RHP Edward Sosa (0-2, 5.54 ERA): 2.2 IP, H, 0 R, 0 BB, K

Silverio has struggled immensely with his control, walking 15 in 6.2 innings, and his first appearance with the Mets1 did not go well.

DSL Phillies White (28-20) 6, DSL Mets2 (22-26) 3   Box Score

Marte opened the scoring with an RBI single in the second inning. In his last four games, he’s 7-15 with nine RBIs and three walks. Cesar Berbesi and Moises Gonzalez also each recorded two hits apiece.

  • RHP Jose Valdez (3-0, 2.43 ERA): 2.2 IP, 4 H, R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 4 K
  • RHP Rolfy Vargas (L, 2-3, 2.76 ERA): 0.2 IP, H, 2 R, 3 BB, 0 K
  • LHP Daniel Juarez (0-1, 3.79 ERA): 3.2 IP, 3 H, R, 3 BB, 4 K
