MMN Recap: Walker and Gordon Toss Gems, Mauricio Hits 15th Homer

AAA: Syracuse Mets (28-52) 2, Rochester Red Wings (32-45) 0

Box Score

A Martin Cervenka RBI double and a Wilfredo Tovar RBI single in the 10th lifted Syracuse to a 2-0 win in extras. The Mets and Red Wings played to a 0-0 standstill to force extra innings.

Mark Payton was the only Met to have multiple hits on the night.

The Syracuse pitching staff allowed just two hits on the night in the Friday night victory. Righty Franklyn Kilome earned the win as he struck out two and gave up no hits or runs.

Starter Josh Walker gave the Mets a long outing as he pitched seven innings and struck out five batters.

AA: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (35-45) 8, Portland Sea Dogs (48-32) 0

Box Score

Nothing was stopping Jake Mangum and the Binghamton offense Friday night as the Rumble Ponies came away with an 8-0 win. Mangum led the way in hitting with three hits, including a 2-RBI triple in the fourth.

Brett Baty grabbed an RBI too as he batted in Mangum for Binghamton’s first run. He also walked twice in the game.

The Ponies had a stellar pitching in the victory as they one-hit the Sea Dogs. Starter Cole Gordon led the charge on the mound as he struck out 10 batters in seven innings.

Reliever Tommy Wilson closed it out allowing no hits or runs in the final two innings.

A+: Brooklyn Cyclones (31-49) 9, Hudson Valley Renegades (53-29) 6

Box Score

A 5-run Brooklyn sixth lifted the Cyclones to a 9-6 win on Friday night. Antoine Duplantis‘ 3-RBI double contributed to the explosive inning.

Top-prospect Francisco Álvarez batted in Brooklyn’s first run in the first with an RBI double. Ronny Mauricio later hit a 2-run homer in third for his 14th home run of the season.

Although the Brooklyn pitching staff gave up 10 hits on the night, the bullpen was phenomenal as the Cyclones allowed just four hits in the final six innings. Reliever Michel Otanez earned the win as he struck out three in two innings of work.

Starter J.T. Ginn allowed a good chunk of Hudson Valley’s runs with five and also gave up six hits in three innings.

A: St. Lucie Mets (41-37) 4, Palm Beach Cardinals (25-51) 0 (Suspended)

Before the game was suspended in the first due to rain, a Kevin Kendall 2-RBI single and a 2-run from Alex Ramirez contributed to a fast start from St. Lucie. Starter Junior Santos allowed just one hit in his lone inning on Friday.

The game will be resumed Saturday at 4 p.m. along with a 7-inning game afterwards.
