Syracuse was postponed due to weather.

Binghamton 4 (4-2), New Hampshire  1 Box Score

The Rumble Ponies are having a rough go in general, with multiple games being suspended, so it’s nice to see them not skip a beat after three days and four games. Gimenez has a tough start to his season. Minor League Free agent Barrett Barnes is currently leading the team with a 1.135 OPS.

Gibbons has always been that steady starter since being signed out of the independent leagues. Zanghi has been excellent as a reliever, but nowhere as near dominant as Villines, who looks as though he could be an option for the Mets’ beleaguered bullpen soon enough.

Fort Myers 7, St. Lucie 3 (7-5) Box Score

Brodey and Tiberi have been on fire St. Lucie to start the year, which has been a pleasant surprise for the team. Hansel Moreno gunned down two runners from left field.

  • LHP Kevin Smith 4.1 IP, 11 h, 3 ER, BB, 3 K, L (0-2) 4.85 ERA
  • RHP Conner O’Neil 2.2 IP. H. ER, 2 BB, 4 K 1.29 ERA
  • LHP Blake Taylor 2 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, BB, K 5.40 ERA

2018 Seventh Rounder Smith has struck out 13 in 13 innings, but has allowed also 18 hits. O’Neil has been a bright sport out of the bullpen. Taylor put the game out of reach in the top of the 9th.

Columbia 3 (5-6), Braves 2 Box Score

Anthony Dirocie is rather unheralded, but he’s got power from the right side and speed to track down balls in center field. To me, he is someone to watch. Brian Sharp is another intriguing bat, drafted last year with some power, and is a decent athlete who also pitched in college.

  • RHP Simeon Woods-Richardson 3 IP, H, 5 K 2.35 ERA
  • RHP Willy Taveras 5 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, BB, 4 K 1.26 ERA
  • LHP Andrew Mitchell IP, 2 K 1.50 ERA

Woods-Richardson was dominant through three innings, with only a hit allowed and five strikeouts. It wasn’t that he threw too many pitches- he only threw 43 pitches, 31 for strikes. Taveras piggybacked and kept the Braves at bay through five innings before Mitchell shut them down in the ninth.
