Who do you want at #19 (Realistically):
Kevin Lauro: Bryan Reynolds. I think if the Mets are going to get a college bat, he’s the best option because he’s just a good overall baseball talent. No huge tools, but just a good ball player. That’s realistically. If we are to chose the best player available, I LOVE Nolan Jones because he’ll most likely play 3rd long term and he has a ton of offensive potential. (Taking a look at Reynolds.)
Corné Hogeveen: Third baseman Josh Lowe (Mock with Lowe going to Mets.)
Jacob Resnick: Catcher Zack Collins seems to be the best bet when it comes to available bats at #19. (One of many mocks with Collins tied to Mets.)
John Sasso: Shortstop Nolan Jones.
NYMets945: Will Craig if he can stay at third base because I believe the Mets need a fast moving player at the hot corner. (Mock with Craig to Mets. )
Teddy Klein: I’d prefer the powerful third base type with David Wright‘s career winding down. Josh Lowe, the athletic type or Nolan Jones are both preferable. Drew Mendoza may slide but he’s a possibility. Will Craig would be awesome if he was actually sticking at third. That’s my priority.
Mike Mayer: I would go with Zack Collins whom it seems like the Mets have definitely shown interest in taking. I wouldn’t be upset with Craig either (Another mock with Craig to the Mets.)
What position should the Mets address in the draft?
Kevin Lauro: Third base or catcher.
Corné Hogeveen: Third base.
Jacob Resnick: Corner infield.
John Sasso: None specifically, BPA (best player available), some prep arms after round 10.
NYMets945: Third base, catcher, outfield and left-handed starting pitching.
Jennifer Nieves: I’d say catcher. It looks possible Travis d’Arnaud may not stay healthy enough to become a fixture and we should have some depth behind Kevin Plawecki.
Teddy Klein: High upside arms and corner infield plus outfield upside may be awesome. Just some more boom or bust potential.
Mike Mayer: I’m always a big believer in taking the best player available, though it certainly sounds like the Mets go with college bat for the #19 pick. Always like going with high upside arms later in the draft.

Who do you think deserves a promotion in the system?
Kevin Lauro: David Thompson, Vinny Siena, and Amed Rosario. Thompson and Sienna because they have dominated the SAL and don’t need to be there anymore. Rosario because he has played extremely well and the B-Mets need a boost. Also P.J. Conlon for promotion because he is ready for the next step.
Corné Hogeveen: Amed Rosario, Wuilmer Becerra, and David Thompson.
Jacob Resnick: David Thompson. Given his age and dominating performance in Low A, he should be tested in St. Lucie.
John Sasso: Rosario, Conlon, Siena, Thompson, Rivera, Tyler Bashlor, Kevin McGowan.
NYMets945: Thompson, Siena, and Rosario.
Jennifer Nieves: T.J. Rivera, no doubt.
Teddy Klein: I think Rivera should get a shot to prove he is not a quad-A guy. Rosario deserves a promotion as well as does Conlon.
Mike Mayer: Not to beat a dead horse but definitely Rivera, it’s time to see if he can hit big league pitching. Conlon has nothing left to to prove in SAL and neither does Bashlor. Would like to see if Kevin Taylor could help out the abysmal B-Mets offense at all and Kevin Kaczmarski in St. Lucie soon.
Who are you looking forward to in the short season leagues? (this includes DSL)
Kevin Lauro: Whoever we pick, I’m hoping sees time in Brooklyn. I want to go to a few games there this summer and watch them develop.
Corné Hogeveen: Shervyen Newton (SS) and Andres Gimenez (SS).
Jacob Resnick: Adonis Uceta (RHP), Sixto Torres (LHP), Ali Sanchez (C) and Edgardo Fermin (INF).
John Sasso: Desmond Lindsay (OF), Sanchez, Kenneth Bautista OF), Raphael Ramirez (OF), Nabil Crismatt (RHP), Harol Gonzalez (RHP), Kenny Hernandez (INF), and Anthony Dirocie (OF).
NYMets945: Lindsay, Juan Uriarte (C), Sanchez, Hernandez, Thomas Szapucki (LHP), and Max Wotell (LHP).
Teddy Klein: Desmond Lindsay, Edinson Valdez (DSL OF with plus power), Gregory Guerrero (SS), Gimenez, and Ranfy Adon.
Mike Mayer: I think Lindsay who going to have a big year, tough not to get excited to see how both of the Mets biggest bonus guys do (Guerrero, Gimenez) and all the talented young arms they drafted last year. Another name to watch out for is Yeffry De Aza.

I’m not a prospect expert by any means but I’ve heard from a lot of people that have seen Craig play that he won’t stick at 3b. That limits his value to the Mets as we look to be set there for the near future with Dominic Smith. If the Mets are committed to getting a prep bat I would rather go with Zack Collins. Otherwise, they should probably draft a HS bat like Nolan Jones.
Collins- some seem to question if he will stick at C even.
Craig- some seen to question if he will stick at 3B even… can always figure out things later… could take that approach with either.
Agreed, some questioned whether Conforto would stick in LF. Both are good college bats and could be quick moves in the system.
I don’t let players in certain positions like Smith/Craig stop be from drafting players hence why I believe in BPA. Too many things can happen between now and the big leagues, take the best bat available. With that said, it’s definitely a concern whether or not Craig can stay at 3B.
Do you think Craig is the best player available? Or would you rather see a HS bat?
Best college bat in the class.
Craig and Collins are both hard workers with plus arms in the right position.
I think there is a good chance Craig will be the best player available.
I’m excited to see who they take.
Nice. Hopefully the Mets get him. Maybe he can shed a few lbs and stick at 3b lol.
It’s really his build and muscle, not fat that weighs him down.
His legs are like tree trunks. He looks like he could jack 30 HRs a year.
If Zack Collins is the goods, you have to take a catcher that can hit. However, if he is such, do you see him lasting until #19?
I don’t know who I’d want at #19. Too many good choices.
-3B Josh Lowe (my current #1 choice)
-LHP Joey Wentz
-RHP Jordan Sheffield
-RHP Forrest Whitley (by miracle)
-RHP Dakota Hudson (by miracle)
I really, REALLY hope they don’t f&ck up their #19 pick by choosing Thaiss or Collins.
Collins is going probably very early.
Dammit, I forgot to mention Zack Burdi too. He could go early.
projected to the Pirates in the last mock.
To pass on an arm like that, it better be a GREAT pick.
