Octavio Acosta Earns First Victory In Savannah 4-1 Win Over Asheville

In his 2nd start, Acosta allows 1 run in 8 innings to win his first game as a Sand Gnat.

The final game of the three game series between the Savannah Sand Gnats and the Asheville Tourists was played Wednesday evening at Grayson Stadium.

Savannah won 4-1 and took two out of three games for the series.

Asheville scored their run in the 2nd inning, when Emerson Jimenez singled, stole second, moved to 3rd on a ground out and scored on a single by Cesar Galvez.

In the 4th inning, Savannah scored a run when Yeixon Ruiz tripled and scored when Dominic Smith grounded out.

Savannah scored a run in the 5th inning. Stefon Sabol walked, then Jonathan Johnson singled and the center fielder made a fielding error, allowing Sabol to score.

The Sand Gnats scored their final two runs in the 6th inning. With runners on first and third, catcher Jeff Glenn reached first on a fielding error by the shortstop and two runs scored.

In his second start for Savannah, Octavio Acosta, allowed only one run in eight innings, giving up five hits, walking three and striking out two batter. It was his first win pitching for Savannah.

Reliever Akeel Morris pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning, striking out two to earn his 14th save of the season.

The announced attendance was 1,488.

Savannah will play the Greenville Drive in a four game series with the first game starting at 7:05pm Thursday at Grayson Stadium.
