Heading into Spring Training, the biggest area of Pete Alonso‘s game which needed to be addressed was his fielding. He has spent extra time on the field with Tim Teufel and others to help him improve that area of his game. Judging from yesterday’s game, his hard work is paying off:

Not only did Alonso get to a hard hit ball to his left, but he also had the presence of mind to go home to get the force out. The play would save a run, but unfortunately, Jacob Rhame would not be able to get out of the inning unscathed.

Mets General Manager Brodie Van Wagenen has said the team is going to bring their best 25 players to Opening Day regardless of service time issues. With the Spring Alonso has put together first with the bat and now that glove, he is putting pressure on the team to make good on their promise.
