Pete Crow-Armstrong, the Mets’ No, 19 overall pick in the 2020 MLB Draft, is impressing early in his first spring training camp. The 18-year-old lefty from Harvard-Westlake High School was invited to camp as a non-roster invitee and has looked sharp so far.
Per Tim Healey of Newsday, “Pete Crow-Armstrong impressed during outfield drills today (Tuesday), including multiple sliding grabs during the portion focusing on low line drives/shoestring catches.”
During his Tuesday presser, veteran Met Michael Conforto was asked about what he thought of and saw from Crow-Armstrong so far. Conforto stated he had a chance to talk to him this week.
“He’s extremely mature beyond his years,” Conforto said. “His speed is something that pops out.”
Crow-Armstrong was also spotted hitting strong line drives this week in camp.
He will continue to be a prospect to watch as camp continues and the 2021 season begins.
