Peter Alonso Promoted To Double-A Binghamton

As first reported by MMN‘s own Michael Mayer, St. Lucie Mets first baseman Peter Alonso was promoted to Double-A Binghamton, where he will help a Rumble Ponies team with their push for the postseason.

In 82 games this season, Alonso hit .286/.361/.516 with 23 doubles, 16 homers, and 58 RBI.  His 16 homers were tied for first in the Florida State League.  He was also Top 10 in a number of other power categories: doubles (10th), RBI (7th), slugging (2nd), and OPS (2nd).  He was twice named a Florida State Leauge Player of the Week (June 25th and July 23rd), and he was the Player of the Month for the Month of July.

Alonso was the Mets 2016 second round draft pick, and he was recently ranked by MMN as the Mets ninth best prospect.

    How do roster size limitations work in the minors? Seems people keep being added to AA with nobody taken away lol

    Not sure. Seems that way though. I think there were some DL moves though. AA trying to get their best team possible for playoffs. Lineup with Mazeika, Nido, Thompson, Alonso, Kazmarzki, Guillorme is a fun lineup along with that strong BP

    They just promoted Urena to Vegas. Hope they drop him back to Bingo for the playoffs. Only team in layoffs so you might as well load them up.
    Funny how good Ricky Knapp has pitched at Bingo once they got him out of Vegas. The rarified Vegas air is probably why they didn’t promote Oswalt

    Where is the promotion of Aaron Ford news? Plus i like this Joe Cavallaro guy in Kingsport, maybe he can start new year in Columbia, also why wasn’t Brosher moved up to take Mazielka’s spot in St Lucie? I think he has a better bat then Dimino

    It’s going to be interesting to see what happens with Alonso. He should be knocking on the door at some point in 21018-2019.
    He could be a great trade chip if Smith works out.

    48% strike out rates don’t get in-season promotions. Maybe Brosher looked better in Bkln. But their performances this year say differently. Much differently. Right now, Brosher has HR power and nothing else.

    Bingo has exactly 25 men on the active roster. Mazeika went on the DL. Alonso is being promoted to take Mazeika’s place.
