Binghamton Mets infielder Phillip Evans was named the Eastern League Player of the Week for the week ending August 20, 2016.

During the week, Evans was an astounding 16-26 (.615 batting average) with seven runs, five doubles, one homer, five RBI and one walk.

The 23-year old Evans was the Mets 2011 15th round draft pick.  This is his first full season in AA, and he is hitting .339/.375/.500 with 40 runs, 27 doubles, seven homers, and 38 RBI.  Evans has played shortstop, second base and third base for the B-Mets.

Evans joins Rafael Montero (Pitcher of the Week for July 25 – 31) as the only Binghamton Mets player to win an Eastern League Player of the Week award this season.
