The Mets 11th round pick from 2014 Connor Buchmann has been suspended 50 games for testing positive for an amphetamine, Major League Baseball announced Thursday. The 22-year old right-handed pitcher’s suspension will begin when the Kingsport Mets season starts in the Appalachian League because that is where Connor last pitched.
He spent the entire 2015 season with the K-Mets going 0-3 with a 13.89 ERA and 3.34 WHIP in 11.2 innings while striking out only five and walking 19. He didn’t fare much better in his first pro season as he had a 10.29 ERA and 3.43 WHIP combined between the Gulf Coast Mets and K-Mets in 2014.
