Previously, it was reported the Mets were going to receive a $20 million grant as part of an $80 million renovation project intended to upgrade the facilities at Tradition Field.  MMN‘s own Michael Mayer has learned how the Mets are going to use the money to improve Tradition Field.

The upgrades will focus on improving the practice facilities, renovating the stadium for a more fan friendly experience, and upgrades to make the facility more player-friendly.  The aforementioned upgrades include:

  • Specialty training and full sized practice fields
  • 360 degree concourse with new concession stands and restrooms
  • Updated clubhouses
  • Dormatories with cafeteria, auditorium, and washer and dryers
  • Safety improvements including replaced seating, roof repair, upgraded elevators, and safety railings

It should be noted that many of these changes will not be in place for Spring Training or even before Opening Day for the St. Lucie Mets.  With that said, the Mets are well on their way to making Tradition Field not only more fan friendly, but also a better facility for their players.
