Ricky Knapp Named the Eastern League’s Pitcher of the Week

Binghamton Mets pitcher Ricky Knapp has been named the Eastern League’s Pitcher of the Week for the week of August 22-28.

During the week, Knapp made two starts going 1-1 with a 2.25 ERA, a 0.688 WHIP, and 17 strikeouts in 16 innings pitched.  In AA, the Mets 2013 eighth round selection has gone 4-1 with a 2.90 ERA and a 1.017 WHIP in six starts.

For the season, Knapp has made 23 starts in 24 appearances, included two starts for AAA Las Vegas, going 13-6 with a 2.56 ERA and a 1.127 WHIP.

This is Knapp’s second pitcher of the week award this season.  Knapp was named the Florida State League Pitcher of the Week for the week of May 15 – 21.

Knapp is the second Binghamton Mets player to be selected as the pitcher of the week with the recently promoted Rafael Montero being named the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for July 25 – 31.
