According to Matt Eddy of Baseball America, the New York Mets have released minor league relief pitcher Christian Montgomery.

Montgomery was the Mets 2011 11th round draft pick.  Montgomery has been twice suspended for using “a drug of abuse” with him serving a 50 game suspension to start the 2013 season.  This year, Montgomery was placed on the restircted list for unspecified reasons.

In 2016, Montgomery made 19 appearances pitching 29.2 innings for the Columbia Fireflies.  Overall, he was 1-1 with a 3.34 ERA, 1.584 WHIP, and a 13.7 K/9.

Last week, right-handed pitcher Alex Durham officially retired from professional baseball. He was the Mets 12th round pick in 2014, but didn’t pitch in the last two seasons. He only pitched in six pro innings in 2014 with the GCL Mets with a 6.00 ERA.

The Mets also re-signed catcher Jeff Glenn to a minor league deal. He played in six games in 2016 going 2 for 5 with a home run and three RBI. He also pitched one inning for the Triple-A Las Vegas 51s,
