Ronny Mauricio has received another accolade on the heels on his solid 2019 campaign. Baseball America named the 18-year-old as the fifth-best player in the South Atlantic League.

Three and a half years younger than the average player, Mauricio didn’t dominate the Sally league in 2019, but still put up productive numbers, hitting .268/.307/. 357 with four homers, 38 RBIs, and a 93 wRC+.

Both his wrC+ and .305 wOBA ranked fourth on the team among players with over 300 at-bats. The switch-hitter made major improvements from the 2018 season in terms of LD%, increasing it by over seven percentage points.

He was named to the SALLY All-Star team after hitting .290/.333/.394 in 59 first-half contests. However, his production significantly dipped after the break, which could be attributed to 2019 being Mauricio’s first time in full-season ball.

Mauricio is widely seen as the Mets’ top prospect entering the 2019-2020 offseason. He signed for a then-team record of 2.1 million dollars during the international signing period in 2017 and the Mets have been very aggressive with him since.

Also of note, former Mets prospects Jarred Kelenic and Simeon Woods-Richardson ended up on Baseball America’s list. Kelenic, who was ranked first on the list, posted a .981 OPS in 218 at-bats in the Sally while Woods-Richardson placed seventh after pitching to a 4.25 ERA and a 2.53 FIP in 20 A-ball starts.
