On Thursday night, news broke that the Brooklyn Cyclones very own Ronny Mauricio received High-A East Player of the Week honors. Since this is the first season of the High-A East, Mauricio is the first-ever player to receive the recognition.

Through twenty-nine at-bats this season, Mauricio is hitting .310/.355/.759 with a sky-high OPS of 1.113. In that time, he’s scored seven, driven in eight, and blasted three round-trippers to conclude a productive week number one.

Mauricio, our No. 2 Mets prospect, flashed some of his talent and newfound size (he gained about 30 pounds and likely grew an inch) during big league camp with the Mets this year. The shortstop was ranked as high as No. 42 (by Baseball Prospectus) among baseball’s top 100 prospects.

Congratulations to Ronny Mauricio, the future is bright, and fans should be excited.
