Promotion: Trey Cobb was promoted to St. Lucie. Cobb posted a 2.22 ERA in 28.1 innings out of the bullpen in Columbia to begin this season. He was their eighth round pick out of Oklahoma State last season. He made his A+ debut today and gave up two runs in one inning of work.

Promotion: Harol Gonzalez got bumped up to Las Vegas. This was a bit of surprise because he skipped Binghamton all together. The 23 year old Gonzalez had a 2.82 ERA in St. Lucie over 73.1 innings. He does not miss many bats though, as his 59 strikeouts would indicate and his fastball sits in the high-80s, low-90s. He made his Vegas debut on Friday night by going six innings and just giving up two runs. He only had one strikeout so getting 17 outs by pitching to contact in the PCL is amazing.

Injury: Desmond Lindsay has been placed on the disabled list. MMN’s own, Ernest Dove, shared this news on Friday night on his Twitter account. Lindsay is hitting .208/.311/.309 this season but is far too talented to be that bad. An injury might explain his struggles but unfortunately, injuries are also an issue for Desmond. It’s also worth noting that Lindsay underwent an Ulnar Nerve Repair last season.

Injury: St. Lucie Mets Adam Atkins reliever was placed on the 7-day DL. The right-hander has a 2.45 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in 40 innings this year.

Promotion: Trent Johnson was promoted to Columbia despite a poor 6.43 ERA. In Johnson’s defense, he has a more respectable 3.84 FIP. He was repeating the NYPL but this time as a full time reliever. He made seven starts in Brooklyn last year.

Promotion/Demotion: Joe Cavallaro was moved to St. Lucie. He was in Binghamton for one start after posting a 2.09 ERA in 77.1 innings for the Fireflies. So technically demoted but he is still moving up from Columbia. Cavallaro had 83 strikeouts in A-ball and had five strikeouts in five innings at Binghamton. He also gave up five runs in those five innings but he’s missing more bats than what was expected.

Promotion: Anthony Dirocie was moved up from Kingsport to Brooklyn. Dirocie was repeating Kingsport and subsequently hit .408/.492/.755. I definitely bought into the power last season but the swings and misses were a bit of a concern. He cut down on them in Kingsport but subsequently struck out in all three of his plate appearances. Still, it will be interesting to see how he handles the new challenge and I hope he can harness some plate discipline.

Promotion: Jeremy Vasquez was moved to St. Lucie after hitting .289/.383/.437 in Columbia. That’s a very impressive slash in a pitcher’s paradise. Hopefully this move allows the Mets to move Chase Chambers to Columbia. He is hitting .319/.410/.403 in Brooklyn with 11 walks to 12 strikeouts.
