Sand Gnats Win Sixth In A Row, Down Charleston 7-4

Game two of the three-game series between the Savannah Sand Gnats and the Charleston RiverDogs, was played in front of 1,017 fans Wednesday evening at Grayson Stadium.

Savannah picked up their sixth win in a row beating Charleston 7-4.

Savannah’s starting pitcher John Gant, set a career high in strikeouts with 10 during his seven innings of work.  He allowed four runs on six hits enroute to his eighth win of the season.

In the first inning, Savannah would push across two runs.  Champ Stuart would single along with Matthew Oberste.  A walk to third baseman Cole Frenzel would load the bases.  Both Stuart and Oberste would score on routine ground outs.

Charleston would claw back into the game in the third inning bring the game back to 2-2.  Matt O’Neil doubled and would be followed by a home run by Dustin Flower.  It was Flower’s sixth home run of the season.

Savannah would reclaim the lead in the fifth inning scoring another pair of runs.  Colton Plaia would hit a double and would score on Champ Stuart‘s second home run of the season over the left field fence.

Charleston would score their final two runs of the contest in the 6th to tie the game at 4-4.

The Sand Gnats would add runs in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings to take the lead for good at 7-4.

The hitting star for Savannah was Champ Stuart who went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base.
