Savannah Drops Final Game To Asheville 12-6

Game three of the three game series between the Savannah Sand Gnats and the Asheville Tourists was played in front of 3,008 fans Wednesday evening at Grayson Stadium.

Asheville entered the game with a team batting average of .284, and banged out 17 hits, running away with a 12-6 victory. The Tourists took 2 of 3 from the Sand Gnats and trail by five games in the standings.

Leading off the game, the Tourists right fielder David Dahl walked and later scored on a double by first baseman Jordan Patterson.

Asheville would send 11 batters to the plate in the 3rd inning, scoring seven runs on seven hits.

The Sand Gnats scored their first run in the 3rd inning when left fielder Stefan Sabol, led off the inning with a walk. Then back to back singles by catcher Colton Plaia and right fielder Patrick Biondi, loaded the bases. A sac fly by shortstop Gavin Cecchini scored Sabol from third.

Savannah would add two more runs in the 5th inning, when Plaia was given first base after being hit by a pitch. The after a single by Biondi, Gavin Cecchini doubled to left field scoring Plaia. Biondi would score the final run of the inning after a Jeff McNeil ground out.

The Tourists scored two runs in the 7th inning and Savannah scored three runs in the bottom of the 7th, highlighted by a two run home run over the left field fence by Plaia, his second this season.

The final run for Asheville was scored in the 8th inning when Dahl led off with a triple and scored on a sac fly by center fielder Raimel Tapia.
