Savannah Edges Out Rome 6-5

Game one of the three game series between the Savannah Sand Gnats and the Rome Braves was played Monday evening at Grayson Stadium in front of 1,350 fans.

Savannah made good use of their 4 hits to score 6 runs and win the first game of the series 6-5.

Rome scored 2 runs in the 3rd inning. Ozhanio Albies,SS led off with a single and moved to third when Keith Curcio hit into a fielders choice and a throwing error by Savannah shortstop Luis Guillorme. A sacrifice fly by Tanner Krietemier scored Albies. A throwing error by the Sand Gnat shortstop allowed Curcio to score.

Savannah rallied for 4 runs in the 3rd inning. Jonathan Johnson walked. Shortstop Luis Guillorme singled. Center fielder John Mora singled to score Johnson. A wild pitch scored Guillorme. A walk to Wuilmer Becerra followed by a line drive double by Jon Leroux scored 2 runs.

In the 4th inning, Rome scored twice. Joseph Daris LF doubled and went to third on a single by Albies. A sacrifice fly scored Daris. Third baseman Jordan Edgerton doubled to score Albies.

The final run for the Braves came in the 6th inning when Omar Obregon,2b singled and Albies hit his third single of the game. A bunt single by Curcio platted Obregon.

The final two runs for the Sand Gnats were scored in the 8th inning without a hit. Guillorme led off the inning with a walk followed by a walk to Mora. A sacrifice bunt by Becerra advanced the runners to second and third. Guillorme scored on a wild pitch and Mora scored on a ground out.

Game two of the three game series starts at 7:05pm Tuesday at Grayson Stadium.
