Savannah Sweeps Away Charleston In 10-5 Drubbing

Panteliodis pitched 7 solid innings, allowed 1run on 7 hits, 2BB, and struck out 4. He improved his record to 2-1 with the win and lowered his ERA to 2.88
Panteliodis (2-1, 2.88) tossed 7 solid innings, 1 R, 7 H, 2 BB, and 4 Ks. 

The final game of the three game series between the Savannah Sand Gnats and the Charleston RiverDogs was played Thursday in front of  4,014  fans at Grayson Stadium. The game was sold-out.

The Sand Gnats banged out 15 hits and beat Charleston 10-5 sweeping the series, and winning their 7th game in a row.

Savannah starter, Alex Panteliodis gave up seven hits, but allowed only an unearned run in seven innings of work, walked two and struck out four. With the win he improved his record to 2-1 and lowered his ERA to 2.88.

Charleston scored their first run in the 1st inning and scored their final four in the 9th, highlighted by a three run home run over the left field fence by center fielder Michael O’Neill which was his 8th on the season.

Savannah scored their first run in the 1st inning as well, when Champ Stuart reached first base on a bunt single and scored when Dominic Smith doubled.

Sand Gnats scored two runs in the 2nd, when Jonathan Johnson walked with the bases loaded to score Victor Cruzado from third and Yeixon Ruiz grounded out to short scoring Colton Plaia.

In the 5th inning, the Gnats added another run when Cole Frenzel singled scoring Dominic Smith who singled earlier in the inning and moved over to second base on a ground out by Matthew Oberste. Savannah plated their fifth run of the game when Ruiz singled to score Stefan Sabol from second base.  Sabol had a single of his own in the inning and stole second base (12) to get into scoring position.

With the bases loaded in the 7th inning for Savannah, Jonathan Johnson doubled driving in three runs.

In the 8th inning, Savannah scored their final two runs on an RBI single by Frenzel and an RBI ground out by Cruzado.

Leading hitters for Savannah: Johnson (2-for-2, two walks, single, double and four RBI’s) and Frenzel (3-for-5, with a run scored and two RBI’s).
