Michael Mayer of MMN (and MMO) reports right-handed reliever Sean Reid-Foley will join the New York Mets in Atlanta. The Mets bullpen has been heavily used the past two games and is of need of reinforcements.

Reid-Foley, 27, had Tommy John surgery in May 2022. He elected free agency this past offseason after being non-tendered. He returned to the Mets organization on a minor league deal.

He was originally obtained from the Toronto Blue Jays along with Yennsy Díaz and John Winckowski for Steven Matz. Winckowski was later moved to the Boston Red Sox in a three way trade which netted the Mets Khalil Lee, who was released this season.

Reid-Foley has made 22 minor league appearances this season, inclusive of his rehab outings with Low-A St. Lucie and High-A Brooklyn. He has been pitching for Triple-A Syracuse since July 6.

In 16 appearances with Syracuse, he is 0-1 with a 4.96 ERA, 1.163 WHIP, 5.5 BB/9, and a 14.3 K/9. He has not allowed a run in three out of his last four outings. Over that stretch, he has pitched three innings allowing a homer while walking one and striking out seven.

Before the Tommy John surgery, Reid-Foley appeared in 19 games over the 2021 and 2022 seasons. He was 2-1 with a 5.28 ERA, 1.467 WHIP, 4.7 BB/9, and a 10.0 K/9.
