Baseball America named its top-10 players at every position on Tuesday and six Mets wound up ranking on the list.
- Ryan Clifford, 1B (8th)
- Ronny Mauricio, 2B (6th)
- Jesus Baez, 3B (6th)
- Jett Williams, CF (6th)
- Brandon Sproat, RHSP (9th)
- Nolan McLean, RHSP (23rd)
The names included aren’t of much surprise, however, Jesus Baez being mentioned as the sixth best third base prospect is noteworthy. Baez was having a strong 2024 season that was derailed by a torn meniscus. While Baez split his time at shortstop and third base evenly with 19 games and another nine games at second base, his most likely home will be third base. Notably, Baseball America listed Jett Williams as the sixth best centerfield prospect. While he has played more shortstop than center field in his career, most expect him to eventually make his home in the outfield or second base.
Ronny Mauricio ranking sixth at second base shows that Baseball America still thinks his switch-hitting with the combination of power and speed will play at the major league level. Ryan Clifford and his 60 grade power made the list on a fairly loaded first base list.
On the pitching side, Brandon Sproat ranked ninth and saw his stock soar thanks to a season that saw him go from A+ to Triple-A while dominating at every level. Nolan McLean ranked 23rd and that ranking should be expected to keep rising with his commitment to only focusing on pitching.
One of the more surprising omissions was Drew Gilbert, who has lost some of his luster due to an injury-plagued 2024 season and a subpar showing in the Arizona Fall League.
