The New York Mets won by five runs over the Houston Astros on Saturday afternoon. Jacob deGrom (2 IP, 0ER, 3K) and Dominic Smith (HR) may have stolen the headlines, but Mets outfield prospect Pete Crow-Armstrong finally got the monkey off his back this spring, as he recorded his first hit on a triple in the sixth inning.

Shortstop prospect Ronny Mauricio drove in Crow-Armstrong with a single to right field three batters later.

Prior to Saturday, the Mets’ 2020 first-round pick was 0-6 with two strikeouts in the first week of spring action. It’s important to note this is Crow-Armstrong’s first real experience of playing professional baseball because there wasn’t a minor league season in 2020.

Therefore, we shouldn’t overreact to anything Crow-Armstrong does this spring–good or bad. He is only 18 years old and there just isn’t enough of a sample size to judge him yet. With that said, it looks like the Mets got a good one if you’re judging solely on how he looked on Saturday.

New York is back in action on Sunday against the Miami Marlins at 1:10 p.m. ET.
