Player of The Month Eudy Pina

Eudy Pina shared on his Facebook page the plaque given by the St. Lucie Mets honoring him as the teams Player of the Month for the month of June.

In 24 games, Pina batted .378/.402/.756, with 19 runs, nine doubles, two triples, six home runs, 21 RBI’s and was 31 for 82.

The Dominican native started playing in the Mets organization in 2009 in the Dominican Summer League and since has made his way to St. Lucie with stops at the GCL Mets, Brooklyn and Savannah.

During the beginning of this season, the 23-year old outfielder found himself struggling and batting just .221 (21 for 95) with a home run and 10 RBI’s in April and .180 (18 for 100) with no home runs and 11 RBI’s in the month of May.

But June saw Pina well deserving of the honor and now in July through Saturday’s games, he is still tearing it up batting .344 (11 for 32) and has hit safely in eight of nine games in the month.

For a team that lost their top three hitters, Dilson Herrera, Brandon Nimmo and T.J. Rivera to promotions, Pina has stepped up at the right time.

Congratulations to Pina for a great month and an honor that was well deserved.
