On the eve of Opening Day of the Triple-A season, the Syracuse Mets hosted the Binghamton Rumble Ponies for a simulation game at NBT Bank Stadium. As noted by Jacob Resnick of SNY, the following players were among those who participated in the game:

This could be a preview of who will be on each roster as the Opening Day rosters have not yet been released. On that note, C Nick Dini, OF Travis Jankowski, and OF Daniel Palka stayed behind in Florida.

One exciting thing was the top of the Binghamton lineup. The top of the lineup is a who’s who of Mets top prospects, and it will be exciting to watch this season:

  1. Mangum
  2. Alvarez
  3. Baty
  4. Mauricio

Mets top prospect Álvarez was 1-for-3 with an RBI double in the game.

Baty and Vientos each recorded a hit.

From the pitching perspective, Connor Grey, who appears slated to begin the season with Triple-A Syracuse, had four innings of work. It would appear he’s set to join that rotation with Thomas Szapucki and Mike Montgomery.

Trey Cobb also had a solid inning of work. This will be Cobb’s second season after undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2019. This will be an important season for the 27-year-old who has had success in Brooklyn and Columbia.

This was the last minor league action for Syracuse before they begin their season. Binghamton will begin their season on the road on Friday. Based on what we’ve seen in the highlights, both teams look ready to have exciting seasons.
