Andy Martino of SNY reports the New York Mets interviewed Syracuse Mets manager Tony DeFrancesco for the Mets managerial opening. It is not known at what point DeFrancesco interviewed, but Martino seems to believe DeFrancesco is still in the mix for the opening.

DeFrancesco has been the Mets Triple-A manager for the past two seasons compiling a 146-135 record. This year, in the Mets first year in Syracuse, the team had a play-in game to make the International League Playoffs. Ultimately, the team missed the postseason with their blowing leads of 7-1 and 13-6.

During his two years managing the Mets Triple-A teams, DeFrancesco has managed some of the Mets players on the Major League team including Pete Alonso, Luis Guillorme, and Jeff McNeil.

In addition to his extensive minor league experience, DeFrancesco has some Major League experience. In 2012, DeFrancesco was the interim manager of the Houston Astros compiling a 16-25 record. Notably, he picked up his first career win as a manager when the Astros defeated the Mets 3-1 at Citi Field.
