Tommy Tanous worked for the Mets organization in a variety of roles for the last 15 seasons and was the vice president of player evaluation and a special advisor to the president of baseball operations since 2023. He is leaving New York to be the Colorado Rockies’ assistant general manager of scouting and player development.

Tanous will work under new Rockies president of baseball operations Paul DePodesta, who he worked with on the Mets in the early 2010s when DePodesta was the Mets’ vice president of player development and amateur scouting. Together, they worked on the drafts that helped lead the Mets to their 2015 World Series appearance.

“We’re thrilled to have Tommy join our front office,” DePodesta said in a press release. “Tommy brings a wealth of knowledge in coaching, amateur scouting, pro scouting, international and special assignment work from his time in baseball, and I’m looking forward to using his experience and rare ability to connect with people to help build organizational consistency across all levels of our operation.”
