Mets minor league outfielder Tim Tebow will play for the Philippines in next month’s World Baseball Classic qualifier.

Tebow was born in Makati, Philippines, in 1987 before moving to Florida when he was three. The 32-year-old is 1-for-6 with a home run and three walks this spring in Major League camp with the Mets.

“You don’t get a lot of chances to represent people or places that mean something to you,” Tebow said Wednesday.

“It’s even more than baseball for me.”

The Philippines, along with Great Britain, Panama, New Zealand, and the Czech Republic, will play in Pool 2. The games start on March 20 in Tucson, Arizona and the Philippines play the Czech Republic that day. Two teams out of the group will qualify for the 2021 WBC.

The former NFL quarterback hit .163/.240/.255 with four home runs, 19 RBIs, and 98 strikeouts in 77 games for Triple-A Syracuse in 2019.
