Daniel Friedman from CBS New York did a fun piece that looks at the Top 10 first-year players in New York during the 2015 year. Not only do the Mets have the most players (three) but they are all in the Top 5 as well. Here you can see the full list.

Steven Matz is first for the Mets on the list coming in at #5 overall after going 4-0 with a 2.27 ERA and 1.234 WHIP in his first six Major League starts. He also added four hits and five RBI in 14 at bats. He started three games in the playoffs including the pennant clinching game against the Cubs.

Next on the list is Yankees young pitcher Luis Severino at #4 then it is the second Met, outfielder Michael Conforto coming in at #3. Michael hit .270/.335/.506 and produced 2.1 WAR in just 174 at bats during his rookie season. Had only six hits in the playoffs but three of them were homeruns.

After the Knicks rookie sensation Kristaps Porzingis at #2 is the Mets potential ace right-hander Noah Syndergaard to top of the list. Thor was 9-7 with a 3.24 ERA and his 2.91 xFIP was fourth in the National League among pitcher to throw 150 innings or more.

Noah also made four appearances in the playoffs (three starts) getting the win in the only Mets World Series victory. He gave up seven runs in 19 innings and struck out 26 batters.

All the talk right now is what do the Mets need to add to get back to the World Series again next year, I think having these three youngsters for a full season is a very good start.
