Syracuse Mets first baseman Travis Taijeron hit for the cycle on Friday night in a 13-4 win over the Pawtucket Red Sox.
Taijeron, 30, started his night with an RBI single in the second inning. It didn’t take long for the right-handed slugger to get his next hit, Taijeron drove in a run with a third inning triple.
After a walk in the top of the fifth inning, Taijeron hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning. Another Syracuse rally brought Taijeron to the plate in the seventh inning, when he doubled to left field to complete the cycle. It’s the first cycle for the Mets in Syracuse and the first one for the franchise since 1987.
Taijeron finished the game going 4-for-4 with two walks, five RBI, stolen base, and three runs scored. He’s hitting just .228 on the season but does have a .950 OPS.
