The Mets announced that Vic Black has been recalled from Las Vegas.

With the release of Jose Valverde, after the Mets loss on Monday, it would seem that Black can be a permanent fixture in the bullpen, the remainder of the season, depending on how he pitches.

In 17 games with Vegas, Black was 0-1, with a 1.45 ERA, seven saves and 18 strike outs in 18.1 innings.

The team announced that reliever Vic Black is joining the Mets to be a 26th player for their doubleheader on Sunday.

Black was expected to make the the Mets bullpen out of spring camp, but struggled with his control and was assigned to Triple-A.

He has seven saves for Las Vegas and a 1.45 ERA in 17 games spanning 18.2 innings. He’s allowed 12 hits and 17 walks, while striking out 18.

Black is still struggling with his control, walking seven in his last five appearances while striking out three.

He’ll likely return to Triple-A on Monday.
