Adam Rubin of ESPN NY reports that Former Cy Young winner Frank Viola is due to join the Las Vegas 51s next Friday after recovering from open-heart surgery.

Before the medical issue arose, Viola, 54, was to open the season as pitching coach for Vegas. Tom Signore has filled in the 51s in Viola’s absence.

Rubin adds that Signore is slated to serve as pitching coach for the Brooklyn Cyclones, when they begin their season on June 13.
