With the addition of the DSL teams, this is getting more and more difficult to narrow down to three players for each. I intentionally omitted Johnny Monell, (who has four HR in his last 10 games), TJ Rivera and PJ Conlon who in my opinion are not hot anymore, just better than the competition level they are currently at.

Who’s Hot

Brandon Nimmo: Over his last 10 games Nimmo is hitting .441 with four homers and eleven RBI atop the Vegas lineup. Since May 1, he owns a .353/.433/.586 line with five homers, four triples, 10 doubles, 23 RBI and an 19/18 K/BB ratio.

Andres Gimenez: Since the start of the DSL season, the fleet footed Gimenez has lived up to his billing as the having the best bat in the 2015 IFA class. Currently hitting .500, with a HR and six RBI to his credit. In his 16 PA he has reached base 10 times. He keeps this up, he could be stateside sometime during the summer.

Gavin Cecchini: Fortunately Cecchini has not carried his defensive struggles (12 errors) over to the batter’s box. In his last ten games he has hit .390 with 16 base hits in 41 AB scoring 11 runs in that time.

Erik Goeddel: After a 4 run meltdown on May 28, Goeddel has thrown 4.1 shutout innings, striking out 7 while allowing two baserunners. He also earned his first save of the year in the process.

Kevin McGowan: He hasn’t allowed a run in a month, lowering his ERA to 0.42 on the season. He has walked only four in 33 innings of work all year while striking out 33. He was promoted to the Binghamton Mets in the midst of writing this.

Who’s Not

Vinny Siena: The SAL All Star is hitting .139 with 11 strikeouts in his last 10 games. His batting average has dropped from .319 to .287 during that time

Jhoan Urena: With only two hits in his last 25 AB, Urena is putting himself at risk of losing even more playing time when Garcia returns in 23 games.

Jayce Boyd: Since returning on May 31st, Boyd has hit just .200 with one extra base hit. While the organization insists he is capable of playing LF.

Mike Hepple: Since being demoted to St Lucie, on May 25th, Hepple has pitched to a 10.50 ERA. He has surrendered 11 hits, four walks, and uncorked a wild pitch in 6 innings of work.

Jeff Walters: He was outrighted off the 40 man roster on June 4th, two days later he allowed four runs in two innings of work. In his last 10 games he has walked 10 while only striking out one.

Joe Shaw: The 2015 12th round pick has struggled to a tune of 10 runs in his last 9.2 innings of work. He has seen his ERA rise to 4.24 for the Fireflies on the year.
