Who’s Hot
Cam Maron – St. Lucie. The left-handed hitting catcher was riding a 16-game hitting streak through June 25th. During the streak, which began on May 30th, Cam has hit .356 (21 for 59) while scoring 12 runs, collecting five doubles, one home run, eight RBI and drawing seven walks for a .424 OBP.
Eudy Pina – St. Lucie. Eudy has been on a tear since June 10th. As of the end of play on June 25th, he’s hit .500 (19-for-38) over his last 11 games while scoring 12 runs, hitting nine doubles, one triple, two home runs, 13 RBI and slugging .947. Eudy has been on our “Who’s Not” list this year – but lately, he’s been sizzling.
Octavio Acosta – Brooklyn. The 23-year old Mexican right hander is off to a great start for the Cyclones. In three starts, he’s 2-0 with a 1.08 ERA. In 16.2 innings, opponents are hitting just .132 against him while striking out 18 and a WHIP of 0.78.
Brandon Brosher – Kingsport. The 19-year old Catcher was a 36th round pick in the 2013 draft. Looking to improve on his 2013 campaign, where he hit just .180 for the Gulf Coast League Mets, Brandon is off to a hot start, batting .417 (10-for-24) in six games through June 25th with four home runs and seven RBI. We may as well start calling him Brandon Basher.
Who’s Not:
Luis Cessa – St. Lucie. The 22-year old right hander from Veracruz, Mexico has been getting knocked around lately. In his last two starts, he’s gone 0-1 while lasting just 6.2 innings. During this span, he’s allowed 15 hits, nine earned runs, walked two and striking out five to the tune of a 12.15 ERA and a WHIP of 2.55.
John Mincone – Savannah. The 24-year old lefty is in his third year in the Mets organization, after the former Cubs farmhand played his way back from the Independent leagues. In his last two outings, he’s pitched 2.2 innings, allowing 10 hits, seven runs (all earned), one home run, while walking one and striking out no one. His ERA over the last week is 23.63 with a WHIP of 4.13.
Christian Montgomery – Kingsport. The 21-year old right hander from Indianapolis, Indiana hasn’t played much since he was drafted by the Mets in the 11th round of the 2011 draft. He has just seven professional games under his belt and was suspended for 50 games last season after testing positive for a drug of abuse for the second time. He’s made two starts on the year with a record of 0-1 and an ERA of 14.40. Opponents are hitting .400 off him and in five innings, he’s allowed 10 hits, 11 runs (8 earned), while walking eight, striking out six, and a WHIP of 3.60.
