Who’s Hot

Jairo Perez – St. Lucie

The Venezuelan continues to stay hot and through June 17th, he has hit in 10 of his last 11 games, including nine two-hit games. During this span, he has hit .413 (19 for 46) with five doubles, a triple, three home runs, 16 RBI and 11 runs scored. On the season, he’s hitting a Florida State League leading .365 to go with a league leading .997 OPS. On the year, he also has 9 home runs and 40 RBI.

Cam Maron – St. Lucie

The St. Lucie catcher is on a 12 game hitting streak through June 17th. During this span, he’s been hitting .364 (16 for 44) with nine runs scored, two doubles, home run, five RBI, six walks and a .440 OBP. The 23 year old was a 34th round pick in the 2009 draft is in his 6th season in the Mets organization.

Randy Fontanez – St. Lucie

Randy was having a solid season in St. Lucie and earned himself a promotion to AA Binghamton. Selected by the Mets in the 27th round of the 2011 draft, the 25 year old righthander hasn’t been scored upon in his last four appearances, going 5.1 innings, collecting three saves, allowing three hits, a walk, while striking out six.

Paul Sewald – St. Lucie

Paul hasn’t been scored upon since May 18th. In his last seven appearances out of the pen, the right hander from Las Vegas has pitched 9.1 innings while yielding just seven hits, walking two and striking out 13 to the tune of a 0.96 WHIP. On the season, Paul has a 0.96 ERA in 19 appearances out of the pen with opponents hitting just .206 against him.

Michael Katz – Brooklyn

Michael was a 9th round selection in this year’s player draft and has gotten off to a hot start in his first professional season. The 21 year old from the College of William and Mary is hitting .389 through his first six professional games (7 for 18) while collecting two doubles, triple, driving in four runs, and walking four times for a .500 OBP.

Who’s Not

Jeff Glenn – Savannah

Prior to getting hit with a foul tip against Augusta that knocked him out of the game, Jeff’s been getting hurt at the plate, too. Over his last 10 games dating back to May 25th, the Savannah backstop was hitting just .115 (3 for 26). On the season, the 9th round pick in the 2009 draft is hitting just .217, no home runs and nine RBI’s in 92 at bats.

Stefan Sabol – Savannah

Sabol has struggled during his three year minor league career and continues to struggle at the plate, landing on the Who’s Not list once again. Stefan has has seen his batting average dip from .241 in 2012 to .203 in 2013 and he’s down to just .184 on the season. From June 3rd to June 15th, Sabol has hit just .097 (3 for 31) with 17 strikeouts.
