Cam Maron

Who’s Hot:

Matthew Oberste – Savannah

No one has been hotter lately than the big first baseman/DH from Oklahoma, who was a 7th round selection of the Mets in the 2013 draft.  Entering game action on July 16th, he was riding a 14-game hitting streak during which he was hitting .509 (27-for-53) with 18 runs scored, seven doubles, four HR and 17 RBI.

Cam Maron – St. Lucie

The lefty hitting catcher is once again on our Who’s Hot list, having hit safely in five of the last six games, going 9-for-26 (.346 batting average) with three3 runs scored, two doubles, four RBI, and two walks.  On the season, Maron is hitting .290 with a .387 OBP, collecting 70 base hits and 39 walks along the way.

Maikis De La Cruz – St. Lucie

After a slow start, the Dominican outfielder continues to swing a hot stick, hitting .440 (11-for-25) over his last eight games, scoring seven runs with two doubles, one HR and six RBI. After batting just .211 in April and .207 in May, he’s brought his season average up to .239.

Cole Frenzel – Savannah

Since being re-assigned to Savannah from St. Lucie last month, the Mets 7th round pick in the 2011 draft has done nothing but hit. Entering action on July 16th, Cole was riding a 5-game hitting streak during which he was hitting .471 (8- for-17) and in 14 games since arriving back in Savannah, he’s been hitting .353 with 18 hits in 51 at bats.

Who’s Not:

John Mincone – Savannah

In his last two outings out of the pen, Mincone has thrown five innings, allowing eight hits, one walk, while striking out four and giving up four earned runs, raising his ERA on the season to 4.07. On the season, opposing batters are hitting .307 off the lefty.

Alex Panteliodis – Savannah

The lefty from the University of Florida was a 9th round pick of the Mets in the 2011 draft. He got roughed up in his most recent outing on July 15th against Asheville, absorbing the loss and lasting just four innings in the start in which he allowed 11 hits, eight runs (six earned) while allowing one HR and striking out two. On the season, Panteliodis has appeared in nine games (eight starts) between Savannah, St. Lucie, and Binghamton. In a combined 48.1 innings, opponents are hitting .319 against him and his season ERA is 4.84.

Jeff Glenn – Savannah

The Savannah catcher has been struggling mightily at the plate lately, batting just .042 (1-for-24) with 10 strikeouts. On the season, Glenn is batting .191 with 24 hits in 121 at bats.
