Who’s Hot

Dilson Herrera, Binghamton Mets

Herrera has continued his impressive season even after a promotion to AA Binghamton. The young middle infielder is 8 for 22 (.364) with three walks and two doubles. He’s scored five runs and drove in three, while only striking out four times since his promotion.

Matthew Bowman, Binghamton Mets

Bowman won MMN’s Pitcher of the Week honors this week for a reason. In his last 20 innings pitched spanning three starts, Bowman has given up just four earned runs while striking out 14 and walking six. He has given up 20 hits in his past 20 innings but that just goes to show you how effective he is when he gets in trouble.

Matt Reynolds, Las Vegas 51s

If it seems like Reynolds has been in the “Who’s Hot” section almost every week, it’s because he has. He’s continued his stellar season since being promoted to Las Vegas as he’s 6 for 16 (.375) with three doubles and six runs. His slash line sits at a pretty .357/.429/.432 on the season.

Who’s Not

Kevin Plawecki, Binghamton Mets

It’s about time Plaw has cooled off as it seemed like he was on a tear forever. He’s finally settled down to a .225 batting average over his last 10 games. He has just 8 hits in his last 35 at-bats with only two of them being of the extra base variety. One bright spot is that he has four walks opposed to just three strikeouts during this stretch, which shows you he is still maintaining a good approach throughout his struggles.

Jayce Boyd, Binghamton Mets

Boyd’s disappointing season continues as he’s batting an ice cold .150 over his last 10 games. With 6 hits in his last 40 at-bats, Boyd’s batting average is down to .248 on the season. During his current cold stretch he has just one extra base hit and has struck out eight times.

Noah Syndergaard, Las Vegas 51s

Syndergaard’s season has not been going too smoothly in Las Vegas. Since coming off the DL, Thor has given up 10 earned runs in his last three starts combined (11.1 IP). The home run ball seems to be doing him in which could be influenced by the thin air in Las Vegas. He is still striking out batters at a healthy rate and showing good control, however. We all know the type of stuff Noah has at this point so I do not think there is really any cause for concern. He will be up to the bigs at some point this summer barring an injury, which should give Mets fans something to look forward to if the big club keeps dragging behind in the standings.
