Adam Rubin of ESPN New York writes that Wilfredo Tovar departed Friday’s game in the bottom of the seventh after pulling up lame as he approached first base on a single to right-center.
Rubin adds that Tovar minimized the injury to his right hamstring after departing the game.
“Now it’s OK,” Tovar insisted.
Terry Collins shared with Rubin: “He’s moving around very good. He just felt it grab, so we took him out. But he’ll be fine.”
Tovar might have avoided the minor injury bug that has plagued a few guys already like Eric Young Jr, Chasen Bradford, Bobby Parnell and Bartolo Colon. With games having just begun, hopefully, as the days move along, they will get back out there and avoid any more time off.
