Travis Taijeron, the 18th round pick in the Mets 2011 draft, looked like he was struggling to adjust to life in St. Lucie when the season started. However, with his last four games resulting in an incredible offensive tear (Taijeron is 6-for-9 in his last four games with four home runs and four RBIs.), I wanted to take a quick look at his statistical breakdown so far this season — and believe me, it looks like night and day.
April: .228/.347/.380 (18-for-79), 7 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR, 10 RBI, 15 R
May: .348/.415/.609 (32-for-92), 12 2B, 4 HR, 13 RBI, 14 R, 1 SB
His slugging percentage also jumped from .380 to .609, which is pretty impressive. Taijeron seems to be more aggressive at the plate and it paid for him big time. Six of his last ten games have resulted in multi-hit performances and Taijeron has been known to be a streaky hitter. So what should we expect from the young athlete?
Taijeron made the move up to St. Lucie mid-way last season and looked like the hitter that we saw early in this season, with a .203/.304/.373 slash line through 158 ABs. His current line in St. Lucie, .313/.405/.582 with 20 2Bs and 9 HRs is showing the logical progression. Considering he was tearing it up in Savannah pre-promotion, I think it’s safe to say that Taijeron is finally adjusting to the FSL and should have some smooth sailing going ahead.

It’s good to see him on fire last month, but he might also be too old for me to get too excited. If he cuts the Ks and keeps hitting AA and higher, then we’d have something.
