During that span he is 7 for 15 with a homerun and three RBI. The outfield prospect is hitting .419/.419/.516 during the winter with six runs scored and a homerun for the Tigres de Aragua.

What do you think are realistic expectations for Becerra this year? As he just turned 21, as long as he produces, I’d think he has a very good chance of spending at least the last 2 months at AA. And by produces, I’m thinking he does not even have to dominate the league and force the Mets’ hand, but rather just perform well enough that they will challenge him with AA. Seems that they appropriately took it slow with him (well, at least did not rush him) the past few years, but he should be developed enough that challenging him seems right at this time. Would you agree?
I think he definitely starts in A-ball with St. Lucie and if he hits could get promoted for some time with Binghamton later in year. Don’t see the Mets being overly aggressive with him and personally don’t see the need too. Played a career high 118 games last year (previous high was 58) and going to play another 25 in winter ball. Curious to see how his body reacts next season.
