Yoenis Cespedes pulled up lame in the first inning, and he had to be taken out of the game. After the game, Sandy Alderson indicated Cespedes suffered a right hamstring strain, will be going on the Disabled List, and there is a chance he will be done for the season.
Likely in response to Cespedes’ injury, Las Vegas 51s right fielder Travis Taijeron was scratched from the lineup tonight. Taijeron would be the logical candidate to be called-up to take Cespedes’ spot as the only other healthy outfielder on the Mets 40 man roster is Wuilmer Becerra, who has not played a game above St. Lucie.

Even if Jose Reyes were to be activated from the Disabled List, the Mets would still need to call-up an additional player as the Mets are currently carrying a very short three man bench at the moment.

With the Mets only having 37 players on the 40 man roster, a corresponding move would not be required to add Taijeron.

On the season, Taijeron has played in 125 games hitting .272/.383/.525 with 32 doubles, three triples, 25 homers, and 78 RBI. The 25 homers are a career high for him.

Taijeron, 28, was the Mets 2011 18th round draft pick out of California Polytechnic State University. He was given the John J. Murphy Award in 2016, which is an award given to the top Mets rookie in Spring Training.  He is set to be a minor league free agent after the season.
