The Binghamton Mets powered past Erie, 11-4, last night to head into the Eastern League All-Star break 20 games over .500 at 58-38.  A 15-hit attack including three home runs, sent Binghamton to the break on a high note winning 7 of their last 8 games.

Leading 2-1, Binghamton broke open a close game scoring five times in the top of the fifth inning.  Kyle Johnson opened the frame grounding a single to left field to start the B-Met assault.  One out later, Johnson came all the way around to score when Dilson Herrera blasted a double to centerfield.

After the second out of the inning, Travis Taijeron’s soft flare to left scored Herrera.  T.J. Rivera’s single to right field sent Taijeron to third before Darrell Ceciliani cleared the bases with his 6th home run of the year.  The blast was Ceciliani’s second of the contest.  The Binghamton center fielder accounted for Binghamton’s first run of the game with a solo home run in the second.

Binghamton added on scoring two more runs in the sixth and seventh.  Brandon Nimmo slammed a two-run home run in the sixth, his 4th round tripper since his arrival a short time ago in Binghamton.  RBI singles by Jayce Boyd and Xorge Carrillo plated the final two Binghamton runs in the seventh.

Boyd went 3-for-5 in the contest raising his batting average to .265.  Johnson, Taijeron, and Ceciliani each had a pair of hits on the night.

Gabriel Ynoa pitched 5.2 innings scattering nine hits and allowing two runs to pick up his second win in three starts for the B-Mets.  Ynoa has struck out 14 batters in 18 innings of work while walking only two.

B-Met Eastern League All-Star Jon Velasquez worked a scoreless inning in relief.  Over 41.1 innings this season, Velasquez has only surrendered 29 hits, striking out 38 and walking only nine.  That gives the B-Met right-hander a sparkling 0.92 WHIP to go with his 3.05 ERA.
