With Kingsport fighting for a postseason spot, the Mets have loaded up that roster with some of the best young prospects in the Mets farm system. That includes this year’s second round pick RHP Simeon Woods-Richardson.

In his two starts and three relief appearances, he has been quite impressive with him not allowing an earned run in 11.1 innings. Overall, he is 1-0 with a save, 0.00 ERA, 1.147 WHIP, and an 11.9 K/9.

With him impressing with Gulf Coast, the 17 year old was given a chance to show off his stuff in the second game of Kingsport’s doubleheader against the Pirates Appalachian League affiliate.

Woods-Richardson made quick work of Bristol as he retired all nine batters he faced. Amazingly, he struck out five of the nine batters he faced.

Four of the five batters he struck out went down swinging. Only one ball left the infield. Woods-Richardson did not get to three balls in any count.

Simply put, Woods-Richardson completely dominated Bristol. Keep in mind, the Bristol lineup included Conner Uselton and Mason Martin, who MLB Pipeline respectively rates as the Pirates 15th and 23rd best prospects.

Because Kingsport only pitched him three innings, he would not get the win. However, he would set the tone for Kingsport’s 13-6 victory.

Overall, Woods-Richardson has completely dominated in his six appearances. He’s striking out batters, and when they do make contact, they’re only hitting .173 off of him.
