On Monday, we wrapped up MMO/MMN’s 2020 Top 30 Prospects with shortstop Ronny Mauricio leading a group that most outlets have in the bottom half as a farm system overall.

There’s certainly upside in the Mets system, but most of it comes from younger players in the lower levels of system that has been weakened with trades over the last 16 months.

Here’s the Top 30 ranking that the 15 of us agreed on:

  1. Ronny Mauricio – SS
  2. Andres Gimenez – SS
  3. Francisco Alvarez – C
  4. Matthew Allan – RHP
  5. Mark Vientos – 3B
  6. Brett Baty – 3B
  7. David Peterson – LHP
  8. Shervyen Newton – INF
  9. Thomas Szapucki – LHP
  10. Josh Wolf – RHP
  11. Kevin Smith – LHP
  12. Franklyn Kilome – RHP
  13. Jordan Humphreys – RHP
  14. Junior Santos – RHP
  15. Carlos Cortes – 2B
  16. Freddy Valdez – OF
  17. Adrian Hernandez – OF
  18. Dedniel Nunez – RHP
  19. Alexander Ramirez – OF
  20. Ali Sanchez – C
  21. Jaylen Palmer – INF
  22. Jose Butto – RHP
  23. Stephen Gonsalves – LHP
  24. Michel Otanez – RHP
  25. Daison Acosta – RHP
  26. Ryley Gilliam – RHP
  27. Wilmer Reyes – INF
  28. Luis Carpio – INF
  29. Bryce Hutchinson – RHP
  30. Robert Dominguez – RHP

Only one of the top 20 prospects has reached the Triple-A level and that Sanchez at No. 20. Three of the top six prospects haven’t played full season ball yet. Three of the top 10 – Allan, Baty, and Wolf – were drafted in 2019.

In terms of potential short-term help for the Mets – Gimenez, Peterson, Sanchez, Kilome, Gonsalves, and Gilliam – are likely to begin the 2020 season in Triple-A Syracuse.

Thank you to all the writers for helping out with the countdown and the readers for tuning it. Coming up, we will have each writer telling us which five prospects they like the best that didn’t make the Top 30.
