Former Binghamton Mets catcher Xorge Carrillo has turned up the heat in winter ball, stringing together a six-game hit streak in which he batted .384 in 26 at bats.
With this recent flurry, Carrillo has improved his Mexican League average to .263.
In that span, Carrillo produced 10 hits, double, home run, and seven RBI’s.
However, even though his production has increased, he still needs to improve against left-handed pitchers, a problem he’s had for most of his professional career. His offseason average stands at.313 against righties and .234 against lefties.
Carrillo made a brief appearance at St. Lucie this past season before being promoted to AA Binghamton. In his time with the B-Mets he hit .296/.350/.352 in 108 at-bats. He struggled at the beginning of the season, but managed to recover towards the end, hitting .344 in July and .400 in August.
Carrillo was also recently named to the Mets Minors Prospect On The Fringe list.
