Xorge Carrillo Knocks In Winning Run, Playoff Action Beginning

Binghamton Mets catcher Xorge Carrillo was the only player in action last night. going 2 for 3 with a double and run batted in. He is playing for the Aguilas de Mexicali who won their first playoff game 2-1 with the game-winning hit being a Carrillo RBI double in the second inning.

In the Mexican League regular season, Carrillo batted .272/.323/.364 in 173 at bats over 52 games. He had seven doubles, three homeruns, 20 RBI, 21 runs scored, and walked 13 times compared to 28 strikeouts.

The playoffs in the Venezuelan Winter League will start tonight with both Wuilmer Becerra (Tigres de Aragua) and Asdrubal Cabrera (Leones del Caracas) teams qualifying. The winter league playoffs in Mexico and Venezuela start with a best-of-7 series.

The postseason will also begin in the Puerto Rican League tonight with a round robin format for the first round. The three teams participating are the Criollos de Caguas (Johnny Monell), Indios de Mayaguez (T.J. Rivera), and Cangrejeros de Santurce (Joel Huertas).

The Dominican Winter League action is back tonight as they will be on game five of their 18-game round robin schedule that is the first round of the leagues playoffs. Alejandro De Aza is 3 for 14 with two walks for the Toros del Este who are 2-2 in playoff actio so far.
