The New York Mets have announced they are promotion right-handed pitcher Christian Scott to Double-A Binghamton. MMN‘s own Michael Mayer also reports the Mets will promote infielder Luke Ritter to Triple-A Syracuse.

Scott, 23, was the Mets 2021 fifth round draft pick out of the University of Florida. Entering the 2023 seasonMMN ranked Scott as the 30th overall prospect in the Mets farm system.

Scott has been impressive with High-A Brooklyn this season. Over six starts, Scott was 1-0 with a 2.28 ERA, 0.803 WHIP, 1.5 BB/9, and a 10.5 K/9.

According to Kiley McDaniel of ESPN, Scott has been sitting between 93 – 96 MPH on his fastball this season, and he has been able to ramp it up to 98 MPH. McDaniel believes Scott could potentially “be a big league factor down the stretch.”

While Scott is moving up to Double-A Binghamton, Ritter will be leaving Binghamton and heading to Triple-A Syracuse. Ritter, 26, was the Mets 2019 seventh round draft pick out of Wichita State University.

This will actually be Ritter’s second stint in Syracuse this season and third in his professional career. Largely, Ritter has struggled in Triple-A.

Last season, Ritter hit .160/.269/.266 over 26 games with Syracuse. From April 20 – 30, Ritter was 3-for-21 at the plate with a homer and four RBI before getting sent back down to Binghamton. Despite those struggles, Ritter has earned the promotion as he is currently on a tear at the plate.

Ritter is coming off a three home run game against the Reading Fightin Phils. He has hit 11 homers over his past 15 games. Since May 26, he is hitting .339/.409/.983 with three doubles, one triple, 11 homers, 22 RBI.

In addition to the home run tear, Ritter can provide some defensive versatility for Syracuse. As noted earlier by MMN, Ronny Mauricio is dealing with an injured ankle requiring an MRI. Last week, Luis Guillorme was recalled to the majors. Ritter has split time between first, second, and third this season.
