After an impressive week, MMN’s number 16 prospect, Brooklyn Cyclone’s outfielder Stanley Consuegra has been named South Atlantic Player of the Week.

Consuegra torched Winston-Salem pitching all week. In the six-game series, he batted .375/.444/.833, with a 1.277 OPS, belting three home runs and driving in ten runs. He recorded multiple hits in two of the six games, including a four-hit day. Consuegra’s power was on display as one of his home run blasts had an exit velocity of 115.1 mph.

Signed as an International Free Agent from the Dominican Republic in 2017, the 22-year-old Consugera is off to a sizzling start through nine games. So far, he is amongst the SAL league leaders with three home runs, ten RBIs, and six extra-base hits. His advanced stats are remarkable: an OPS of 1.044, wRC+ of 174, and an ISO of .333.

After being plagued by injuries earlier in his career, he played in 122 games last season and hit .245/.317./.408 with 13 home runs and 59 RBIs. He also swiped 12 stolen bases. Consuegra is an immense talent; hopefully, he finally puts it all together this season.

Also of note, MLB Pipeline announced their first Prospect Team of the Week this season for April 6-16, and two prominent Mets-hitting prospects are on the list, third baseman Brett Baty and first baseman Mark Vientos.

For Baty, this is just “icing on the cake,” as the Mets have called him up to the majors. Baty has been locked in at the plate since spring training, and that carried over to Triple-A, where in nine games, he slashed .400/.500/.886 with five home runs, 15 RBIs, and a 1.386 OPS. He even owned an excellent wRC+ of 239 and a .486 ISO.

First baseman Vientos, MLB Pipeline’s number 8 prospect, in nine games slashed .394/.432./818 and capped off the week with a five-hit performance in Sunday’s doubleheader.

Overall, in 52 at-bats early in the season, he’s batting .346, with five home runs, 13 RBIs, and a 1.109 OPS for Syracuse.
