Enmanuel Zabala starts off the long night of baseball with a walk for Columbia.
He then steals SB!
Another RBI by David Thompson, now has baseball leading 32 on the season.
Grasshoppers score two runs in the first inning, Fireflies now trail 2-1.
Ivan Wilson walks, steals second, moves to third on wild pitch and scores on sac fly by Tyler Moore to tie the game at 2 for the Fireflies.
Thompson singles in his second at bat, he is 2 for 2 with a RBI.
Any hope for him?
He really needs to see PSL.
Fireflies headed to the bottom of the 5th still tied at 2.
Grasshoppers score three runs in 6th and the Fireflies trail 5-2 headed to the 7th inning.
Agreed but just no place to put him.
Definitely, still only 20 and has been better than I thought he would so far this year.
Fireflies lose Game One of the doubleheader 5-2. David Thompson had the only two hits and knocked in his 32 run.
Becerra singles in his first at bat tonight for St.Lucie, now has 11 game hit streak and batting .413. Game Is Tied At one
Love that he’s hitting just wish it was for more power!
Dom Smith singled and scored in his first at bat tonight. BMETS winning 2-1.
Did you read his managers quote in the Becerra piece/
Rosario singles in his second at bat, St. Lucie gets bases loaded but John Mora flies out to end the threat. Game tied at 1 in the 4th.
DFA Mora
Jannis has no control of the knuckler tonight, at 80 pitches in the 4th.
He didn’t hit a Homer or a double? BUST
Kevin Taylor with two more hits tonight for St.Lucie, Mets have done really well with signing INdy ball guys recently.
Who has been your biggest disappointment so far this year in the minors/
Fireflies and Grasshoppers scoreless after two innings in game two of their doubleheader.
It will always be Nimmo for me 🙁
yes I did. If he’s hitting line drives that’s good. I would still like to see him crack a few homers though!
Been on fire lately though, I think there are definitely guys having worse years.
I know but he’s a first round pick. Im tired of defending him
Still pretty young but if he doesn’t show some power this year in the PCL he never will. Honestly I don’t really care what picks these guys were to a certain degree, doesn’t really matter any more.
Fireflies score two runs in the 3rd inning without getting a hit.
Yeah as long as they aren’t top 5 picks
I just mean he either hits or he doesn’t, where he picked doesn’t effect that. Of course he has disappointed and that has more light shed on it because of being a first rounder.
Kyle Johnson singles to tie the game at 3 for Binghamton in the 5th. He has been an on base machine lately.
Ricky Knapp really settled down and has allowed only the first inning run for St. Lucie as they are tied at 1 in the 7th.
RBI single from Dom Smith gives Binghamton a 4-3 lead, his second hit of the night.
He is now hitting .287 on the season.
Eudor Garcia.
Plus he was a stretch at the time of the pick.
Lol, that one is pretty obvious. How about someone that has played.
Since Flexen was my breakout candidate, I will have to go with him since he has not taken the next step in his first 5 or 6 starts.
Honorable Mention: Urena
I can dig that, although I think him being healthy is pretty key and a good first step.
I always thought Kyle Johnson could be useful but he’s been somewhat of a disappointment.
That is exactly who made me think of the question in the first place and was wondering if someone would say him.
Ya I thought he could be a 5th outfielder when they got him. Obviously that hasn’t really worked out at all.
True..he needs to get some innings under his belt.
That is what he is desperate for.
Kevin Canelon strikes out the side in the 4th inning for Columbia, they are still winning 2-0 going into the 5th.
But I agree I had/have big hopes for him this year so his meh start is disappointing.
Who has been your biggest surprise to start the year, outside of top 30 prospect type guys.
In the top 30, the inclination is to go with Thompson but I will say Ynoa surprised me.
Outside top 30, Dash.
Yeah how is ynoa looking?
Thompson was the no-brainer and I like the Ynoa one. Wonder how long he can stay successful without the K’s. Dash has been putting the ball in play more but the lack of power is disappointing to me because that is his one plus skill.
I havent seen him pitch but a 2.05 ERA in Vegas through 5 starts where he average 6 IP per start is good in my book.
His breaking ball has looked better this year and is using a two-seamer more.
Three scoreless innings of relief from Logan Taylor for Binghamton.
Michael,
Who was your break out candidate? I believe Teddy is riding Amed all the way.
With St. Lucie trailing 2-1, Amed Rosario led off the 9th inning with a single, his second hit of the night.
Becerra for the tie?
Canelon has now struck out six straight batters for Columbia, he has allowed only one hit in 5 scoreless innings.
Teddy and I both liked Thompson which he did a write up on. For pitchers I liked Flexen and Crismatt who I was disappointed didn’t start in Columbia.
Two outs now but Rosario steals 2nd.
St. Lucie loses 2-1, Amed Rosario and Wuilmer Becerra each had two hits, Becerra now hitting .416.
While not a breakout, I also thought that Gsellman was going to start turning some into believers which I would say he has certainly done.
Cecchini raking but he can’t hit above 7th.
Binghamton in a rain delay in the 7th inning with a 6-3 lead.
